    The Institute is a NGO for high efficiency energy use. It offers research and development of high efficiency energy systems, dynamic building simulation, development of Passive House building components and Passive House Certification. The Passive House Institute Darmstadt developed the Passive House Planning Tool (PHPP) that ensures high quality Passive Houses. PHPP design Tool is internationally recognised and available in several languages. The Passive House Institute is the organiser of the International Passive House Conferences (www.passivehouseconference.org). Literature and a large variety of research reports are published by the Institute; some also offered for free download.

    The IG Passivhaus is a neutral and independent community in Germany that provides an information service which brings together all persons involved in the contruction process in supporting the Passive House standard. It offers general information (Passive House brochure), technical information and networking. The IG Passivhaus Germany is the initiator and organiser of the International Passive House Days in Germany and worldwide coordinator of this event. It is supported by the Passivhaus Institut and the Passivhaus Dienstleistung GmbH.

    The Passive House Institute Darmstadt posted a short introduction course on passive houses on the internet. It offers information on all relevant aspects like insulation, thermal bridges, airtightness, windows, heat recovery.

    To ensure high quality Passive Houses the Passive House Institute created a certificate for architects and planners. This website provides information on how to become a certified Passive House Designer and contains a database of currently certified architects and planners.

    Certified European Passive House Designer
    The European Commission has decided to boost Passive House development significantly with the “Certified European Passive House Designer” project (CEPH).
    Qualified people can learn the fundamentals of planning and building cost-efficient Passive Houses through an intensive training course leading to the qualification "Certified Passive House Designer". The website contains information on how to participate in the seminars and on how to become a trainer or contractor for the seminar program and offers a link to the German Passive House Designer database.

    Passivhaus Dienstleistung GmbH (PHD) provides quality approval for passive houses.
    PHD helps achieving the highly energy efficient passive house standard and subsequently issues the certificate "Quality Approved Passive House Dr. Wolfgang Feist". Using this certificate, PHD has ensured the passive house standard in hundreds of modernizations, new flats and houses, public buildings and offices. As of March 2009, Passivhaus Dienstleistung GmbH had helped building and had certified more than 400 buildings.
    Ever since its foundation, PHD has been actively disseminating passive house knowledge by seminars and workshops. Meanwhile, in the public sphere, PHD spread the concept of the passive house. By representing this energy standard at trade fairs, by printing and distributing information brochures and leaflets and by setting up a uniquely detailed database as well as an online industry guide PHD has been able to actively raise public awareness of the passive house standard.

    This database for Passive House Projects is a common project of the Passivhaus Institut, the Passivhaus Dienstleistung GmbH and the IG Passivhaus Deutschland. It provides an international overview of realized Passive House projects, published after a plausibility check.

    eza!, the Energie- & Umweltzentrum Allgäu (energy & environmental centre allgaeu) is a non-profit corporation that was founded by the municipalities of the Allgäu, by businesses and action groups to promote both energy efficiency and renewable energies. eza! offers a wide range of services. They include media work and organisation of events, energy consultations, training schemes for professionals and support for local and regional energy policies. eza! refurbished a residential building and reduced the former energy demand for heating by 90 % by using passive house components. This building is also used for demonstration purposes.
